It seems that NMH
has a long history of innovation with Ultimate... In addition to co-founding the
NEPSUL, NMH was the place where Joel Silver, one of the sport's recognized
founders, first played the game.
The book contains
detailed information about early versions of the sport, and the accompanying DVD
includes scenes from an interview with Jared Kass. Kass describes the early
origins of Ultimate at Amherst College and teaching it to summer schoolers -
including Joel Silver - at Northfield Mount Hermon in the summer of 1968.
The DVD also includes an
interview with Joel Silver in which he discusses how he took what he learned at
NMH and helped Ultimate come into existence as an official sport at Columbia
High School in 1968.
The rest, as they say,
is history....
In promoting the book,
Tony Leonardo and Adam Zagoria have helped raise awareness of the sport,
appearing on TV's "Cold Pizza," and with articles in Sports Illustrated and
SI.Com.
